Daily Responsibilities

  • Provide preventive care, including vaccinations and screenings

  • Coordinate care with specialists and other healthcare providers

  1. Undergraduate Education - Bachelor’s Degree [4 years]

  2. Medical School - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) [4 years]

  3. Residency [3-4 years]

  4. Optional Fellowship for Subspecialities [1-2 years]

  5. Licensure - American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) exams

Salary

Entry Level: $120,000 - $300,000
Experienced: $300,000 - $500,000+

Job Outlook

Demand for family doctors remains fairly study, driven by increased emphasis on preventive medicine, as well as healthcare access expansion through insurance reforms.
